Guest Info & FAQs.
What to bring, what's included, and how we run trips — so you can focus on the adventure.
Getting ready for your trip.
Get In Shape
Mountain country is unforgiving. For hunts and backcountry fishing, arrive in the best shape you can — it dramatically improves your odds and your experience.
Gear & Clothing
Build a layering system around waterproof outerwear, a down jacket, and merino base layers. Well-broken-in boots (Crispi, Kenetrek, Schnees, Lowa) and trekking poles are strongly recommended. Snow can fall even in summer.
Lodging & Meals
Adventures include meals. We don't operate on-site lodging, but we have access to a camper and campsites at no cost, plus wall tents on primitive hunts — and we'll gladly help arrange a hotel or Airbnb near Glacier.
Tags & Licenses
Tags and permits are separate from outfitter fees and must be purchased through Blackfeet Fish & Wildlife (blackfeetfishandwildlife.net). Some are first-come, some by bid — we're happy to help you navigate it.
For Anglers
We supply flies and gear, or bring your own rods, reels, and waders. All wading and watercraft gear must be inspected and cleaned of mud, vegetation, and invasive species before fishing.
Getting Here
We'll pick you up in Great Falls (Great Falls International) or Kalispell (Glacier Park International). Don't forget bear spray, your camera, and your sense of adventure.
FAQs.
What is the deposit and payment policy?
All adventures require a 50% non-refundable deposit. For hunting and fishing, the second half of payment is due 30 days prior to the event (fishing is paid in full prior to arrival unless prior arrangements are made). If you must cancel, we'll return 50% of your remaining payment or roll your deposit to a future season; otherwise the deposit is forfeited. We accept credit cards, cash, personal checks, money orders, and PayPal; ACH may also be possible.
Do I need a tag or license, and how do I get one?
Yes. Tags and permits are separate from outfitter fees and must be purchased through Blackfeet Fish & Wildlife at blackfeetfishandwildlife.net. Some permits use a bid system and some are first-come, first-served. Prices are set by the Fish & Wildlife Department and can change year to year. Contact us and we'll help you navigate the process.
What's included with a hunt or fishing trip?
Adventures include guide service and meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner on hunts). Hunting trips include lodging in the form of a tent, a camper with utilities, a hotel, or a local Airbnb depending on the specific hunt. Field transportation during the trip is included. Tags/permits, gratuities, and taxidermy are not included.
What should I bring?
For hunts: your weapon of choice (sighted in and practiced with), waterproof layers, a down jacket, merino base layers, broken-in boots, trekking poles, and any personal communication device. For fishing: waders and wading boots if you have them — we supply flies and gear, but you're welcome to bring your own. Once you book, we'll send a detailed checklist well in advance.
Can you process game and handle my trophy?
Yes. We offer in-house meat processing and packaging for an additional cost based on size, quantity, and species, and can ship via dry ice or donate to a local food bank free of charge. We'll cape and store your trophy for transport to the taxidermist of your choice — we recommend Alpine Custom Taxidermy in Columbia Falls, Montana.
Do you offer a recovery / packout service?
Yes. In Northwest and Central Montana we offer animal packouts via horse and mule for a $500 minimum based on location and need — even if you booked your hunt with another outfitter. Send us a location and the best access route and we'll help.
When is the fishing best?
The best windows are typically mid-March to mid-May in spring and mid-September to mid-November in fall. Spring ice-off and pre-spawn fishing is, in our opinion, the best of the year. Summer shifts to mountain streams and pike on the fly. Rainbows can reach double-digit weights and push 30 inches, with shots at trophy browns as well.
Can non-hunters or extra anglers come along?
Many trips are built for groups — several fishing and predator packages include two anglers/hunters. Reach out with your group size and we'll tailor the trip and pricing to fit.
